Imagine a health care system where everyone has a health care home no matter where they live, no matter whether or not they have health insurance. Community Health Care is that health care system. Visionary Board Volunteers and “Mother’s Heart”-always-room-for –one- more –quality care giving Doctors, Dentists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, hygienists, counselors and patient educators: that’s us. More than culturally- competent and customer service-obsessed nurses and clinical assistants, medical records and reception staff, attention-to-detail-and dollars business and administrative crews and purpose-driven, people-inspiring managers: that’s also us. We are that health care system, and we kicked it up a notch last year.
Last year, for another year, thousands more health underserved people found a new quality health care home as we added 4 health care locations in new neighborhoods and opened 4 more night and week end clinics; 23 new clinicians, and our growing team of 260 at 18 service sites, delivered 1,266 babies, started care for more expecting moms in the first trimester, enrolled more diabetic and asthmatic patients in our chronic care model program, gave 1,777 school children in-school guidance services, and transported 1,140 kids to dental care, conducted 1, 642 community health fairs and screenings, and served 9,350 more medical, dental and mental health patients than in 2007. We also won recredentialing –the third time—by JCAHO for our quality of care. Not to mention that all the teams tended their own operations like business owners and we balanced the company budget with a surplus to invest in a future where everyone has a health care home.
